****CFP altmetrics20 workshop, 6 November 2020****

*altmetrics20. The Future is Now*

*About the workshop ***

altmetrics20 (*http://altmetrics.org/altmetrics20*) is part of the
altmetrics workshop series organized since 2011 and this time, it will
take place online on *6 November 2020*.**

What kinds of altmetric-related research have you been thinking about or
working on? altmetrics20 encourages you to contribute to the workshop by
submitting altmetric-related research focusing on the current state of
altmetrics as it relates to the global, political, social, and economic
changes we are all experiencing. This will allow us to simultaneously
discuss the state of the art of research in altmetrics and social
media-based metrics as well as to speak to the global, political,
social, and economic changes we are witnessing. Together with the
workshop participants, we would like to reflect on current research
approaches as well as to look at future horizons of altmetrics research
and practice.

*Call for contributions*

We are soliciting empirical and theoretical contributions for short
presentations and as a basis for discussions, which will be the main
focus of the altmetrics20 workshop. The submissions could be of any of
the following types: *Short papers, lightning talks or
posters*.**Submissions can focus on empirical analyses, novel
theoretical frameworks, original datasets or represent a position paper.
The goal of the workshop is to discuss, exchange, and foster
collaboration on social media metrics and altmetrics. While a short
paper is not a requirement to attend the workshop, we strongly encourage
prospective participants to submit a contribution to seed the
discussions. The organizers will give priority to submissions linking to
original research artifacts and bearing potential for deeper reflection
on altmetrics use and research.

*How to submit*

Please provide short papers (1,500-3,000 words), lightning talks (1-page
abstract) and posters (1-page abstract) presenting the objectives,
questions, methods and results of your altmetrics research.

Submissions in PDF need to be submitted via EasyChair
<https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=altmetrics20>by *30 September
2020*. Please include a link to any relevant artifact (e.g., a dataset,
plots, slidedeck) you wish to present and discuss, after archiving it
via an appropriate repository (e.g., Zenodo, Dryad, figshare, GitHub,
SlideShare, etc.).

*Special issue in Journal of Altmetrics*

altmetrics20 has teamed up with Journal of Altmetrics to consider all
accepted short papers (upon completing a review process by the journal
and complying with required revisions) in a special issue in the Journal
of Altmetrics if the authors agree, otherwise they will be made
available via the workshop website. The Journal of Altmetrics is an Open
Access Journal, sponsored by the Levy Library at Mount Sinai, and
currently waives authors’ fees for publications. All papers receive a
DOI and are tracked for impact metrics. Authors of selected papers from
the altmetrics20 workshop will be asked to provide an extended version
of their short paper, which will then be re-reviewed and published in a
special issue dedicated to the conference and workshop. For more
information about the journal please
visithttps://www.journalofaltmetrics.org/

*Important dates*

*Workshop date: *6 November 2020

*Submission due: *30 September 2020
