[NORSLIS] Doctoral course: Theories in Library and Information Science

In the Autumn we will organize the annual doctoral course Theories in Library and Information Science (10 ECTS). Please distribute to anyone who might be interested.

Course structure: independent studies and two meetings in Oslo (22-26 October and 10-12 December, 2018).
Course description: The content of this doctoral study course is based on selected fields of contemporary research in the library and information science (LIS). It is designed to Nordic and Baltic LIS doctoral students, but also suitable for doctoral students in LIS in any other part of the world or in related research areas. The emphasis is laid on following research themes: Metaviews in LIS; Information and society; Mediation of literature and culture; Perspectives from reception theory and Sociology of literature; Knowledge organization & Knowledge management; Scholarly communication and Scientometrics; Information behaviour, practices and litteracies; Archival records and Document genres; and Information retrieval & Interactive information retrieval. The course is focused on the active research fields, the lectures are delivered by internationally established Nordic researchers, and the required literature is inclined to reputable research published in English language. However, students may enrich the course with literature in other languages.
The practical schema of the course is planned to facilitate international students' course participation. The course is delivered at the Oslo Metropolitan University, Oslo, Norway, and it combines lectures and seminars on campus with independent studies of literature as well as with written submission and oral presentation. The course is given in English.
