Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the 4th Symposium on Antimicrobial Resistance
in Animals and the Environment (ARAE 2011) which will be held on June
27-29, 2011 at the International Convention Centre Tours Val de Loire ?
France (http://www.vinci-conventions.com).

The aim of the ARAE 2011 conference is to present a global vision of the
impact of the use of antibiotics in livestock and their environment. All
aspects related to pharmacology, epidemiology of resistant animal and
zoonotic pathogens, mobile elements containing resistance genes,
emerging antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, common aspects to
virulence and antimicrobial resistance, and the role of the environment
as a source of resistance genes transfer and dissemination will be
discussed.

*5 sessions

1. **Monitoring and molecular epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance *

Keynote speakers:
Shabbir Simjee (UK)
«CEESA - Logistics of a Pan European resistance monitoring program
encompassing foodborne pathogens, commensal bacteria and target
pathogens of bovine, swine and poultry origins: is it all worth it?»

Stefan Schwarz (Germany)
«Molecular analysis of emerging antimicrobial resistance properties
among bovine /Pasteurella multocida/»

*2. **PK/PD modeling and the rational selection of dosage regimens for
the prudent use of antimicrobial drugs *

Keynote speaker: Rob Hunter (USA)
«Biowaivers, bioequivalence, and antimicrobials»

*3. **Role and prevalence of antibiosis and the related resistance genes
in the environment*

Keynote speaker: Rustam I. Aminov (UK)
«The role of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance in nature»

*4. **Emerging antimicrobial resistance mechanisms in animal and
zoonotic pathogens
*
Keynote speaker: Neil Woodford (UK)
«ESBLs and carbapenemases in human clinical microbiology: do farms play
a role?»
*
5. **Antimicrobial resistance and virulence common themes
*
Keynote speaker: Ad C. Fluit**(The Netherlands) *
*«Genetic variation, virulence, and antimicrobial resistance of
live-stock associated methicillin-resistant /Staphylococcus aureus /ST398»

You are cordially invited to submit abstracts of your best research on
the ARAE 2011 website: http://www.arae2011.com

Deadline for submission of abstracts is *April 30*.

With best wishes,
