Dear
colleagues,

The 11th conference of the European Society for Textual Scholarship in Helsinki 30
October - 1 November 2014 on the theme "Textual Trails. Transmissions of Oral and Written Texts". CFP
will be announced in February.

The
European Society for Textual Scholarship (http://www.textualscholarship.eu/)
and its refereed journal Variants (Rodopi) provide an international and
interdisciplinary forum for the theory and practice of textual scholarship in
Europe.

Traditionally,
folklore studies has generally discussed on the same topics as textually
oriented disciplines, but lately dialogues between folklorists and textual
scholars have been infrequent in spite of similar methodological challenges and
shared historical roots of the disciplines. The latest volume of RMN Newsletter, "Limited Sources, Boundless Possibilities: Textual
Scholarship and the Challenges of Oral and Written Texts" (see details
below), is a special issue that
combines both folkloristic and textual approaches.

The
organizers of the 11th ESTS conference hope that this
interdisciplinary dialogue continues in the upcoming conference in Helsinki. The
CFP will be announced in February 2014.

Conference
will be organized by The Finnish Literature Society and its editorial unit
Edith - Critical Editions of Finnish Literature (www.edith.fi/english)
and other scholarly organizations.
