[Folda] Annual general meeting - Draft changes from the board

Við minnum á Aðalfund Foldu sem verður haldinn *næstkomandi fimmtudag 
29.mars kl. 12:15 í stofu 367 í Öskju* (fyrirlestrarsalurinn á 3ju hæð).

Í síðasta tölvupósti var sagt að 16 félagar þyrftu að mæta svo fundurinn 
yrði löglegur, það leiðréttist hér með. Félagsmenn Foldu eru 62 og *því 
þarf minnst 21 einstaklingar að sækja fundinn til þess að hann teljist 
löglegur.* Við leggjum því enn meiri áherslu en áður á það að sem 
flestir mæti svo komast megi hjá því að þurfa að halda 
framhaldsaðalfund. Fyrir þau ykkar sem ætlið á jarðhitaráðstefnuna er 
tilvalið að mæta snemma og kjósa nýja stjórn.

Meðfylgjandi eru lagabreytingartillögur stjórnar. Stjórnin leggur til 
breytingar á greinum 3,4,6,8,11,21 og 23. Breytingarnar eru auðkenndar 
með bláu letri. Engar aðrar lagatillögur hafa borist.

Við sjáum vonandi sem flesta (allavega 21) á fimmtudaginn.

We would like to remind you all about our annual general meeting which 
will be held next *Thursday 29th of march in room 367 in Askja* (lecture 
room on 3rd floor).

When we announced the annual meeting it was stated that we needed 16 
persons for the meeting to be valid. That is however wrong as our 
members are currently 62 and therefore *we need at least 21 person to 
attend for the meeting* to be valid and to avoid the need to have a 
continuation meeting. So we would like to encourage you to show up. The 
geothermal conference will start directly after our meeting so if you 
are heading to Askja anyway, we hope that you can show up one hour 
earlier to attend the general meeting and elect a new board.

Attached is a draft of changes on the laws that the board proposes. No 
other changes have been proposed by members.

Unfortunately the laws are as of yet only available in Icelandic. But to 
summarize our changes, we have mainly edited out parts of the law that 
we feel our obsolete. This regards our website (article 23) for example 
and as well the purpose of Folda (article 3).

The most drastic change we propose regards the general meeting. Instead 
of requiring 1/3 of members of Folda for the general meeting to be valid 
we propose that only 17 members need to attend for the meeting to be 
valid (article 8). We also propose that laws can be changed with a 
simple majority of votes rather than 2/3 of votes (article 11).

We have also edited out the role of senior members (article 4) and any 
mention of them in the laws (article 6).

We have added to the responsibilities of the representative of Folda at 
department meetings. The representative will now be required to report 
to the board. (article 21).

We hope to see as many as possible (at least 21) next thursday
