Tryggingastofnun ríkisins hefur verið í umræðunni á undanförnum árum. Komið
hefur fram að fleiri konur en karlar fá metna örorku og árið 2005 voru konur
60% allra öryrkja hjá TR. Athuganir hafa ekki náð að skýra að fullu hvað veldur
þessum mun á fjölda kvenna og karla meðal öryrkja.<br>
Í þessum fyrirlestri mun Ásta Snorradóttir greina frá rannsókn sinni á örorku
meðal kvenna á Íslandi. Þar skoðaði hún hóp kvenna sem metnar eru með örorku
hjá TR og greindi hvað einkennir þær konur og hvað skilur þær frá öðrum konum í
þjóðfélaginu. Hún skoðaði sérstaklega hvernig þróun hefur verið meðal kvenna
sem fengið hafa metna örorku vegna vefjagigtar og tók jafnframt viðtöl við
konur með vefjagigt til að leita svara við því hvað aftrar þátttöku þeirra á
vinnumarkaði. Rannsóknina vann Ásta sem lokaverkefni í meistaranámi í
félagsfræði frá Háskóla Íslands.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
