<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Course structure: independent studies and two meetings. The dates for the course meetings are 27.9-1.10 and 15-17.11.2021. The first meeting will be digital on Zoom. The second meeting will take place at Oslo Metropolitan
University, Oslo, Norway.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Course description: The content of this doctoral study course is based on selected fields of contemporary research in library and information science (LIS). It is designed for Nordic and Baltic LIS doctoral students,
but also suitable for doctoral students in LIS in any other part of the world or in related research areas. The emphasis is laid on a number of research themes, such as: Metaviews in LIS; Information and society; Advocacy of literature; Reading studies and
digital textuality; Archival records; Knowledge organization & Knowledge management; Scholarly communication and scientometrics; Information behaviour and practices; Evaluation of information searching and Information retrieval & Interactive information retrieval.
The course is focused on active research fields. The lectures are delivered by internationally established Nordic researchers and the required literature is inclined to reputable research published in English language. However, students may enrich the course
with literature in other languages.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The course is planned to facilitate international students' course participation. The course combines digital lectures and seminars with an on-campus meeting at Oslo Metropolitan University. The course also includes independent
study of literature and presentations of students’ work. The examination is in form of an essay closely related to students’ own thesis topic. The course is given in English.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
