Improving Quality of Life Through Information - an international information science symposium BOBCATSSS 2017 held in Tampere


The 25th BOBCATSSS symposium will be held in Tampere from January 25th to 27, 2017. The theme for the first BOBCATSSS symposium held in the Nordic countries will be Improving Quality of Life Through Information. The theme is divided into three subthemes: Information, Libraries, and Interactive media. The keynote speakers of the symposium are Carol Tenopir for Information, Guus van den Brekel for Interactive media and Josie Billington for Libraries. The program covers nearly a hundred interesting presentations as papers, posters and workshops around the theme. The program also includes social program such as the Gala Dinner that is held at the Finlayson Palace. The symposium is aimed for students and professionals of the information field. What is BOBCATSSS?


BOBCATSSS is an international symposium of library and information students and professionals. It is held annually in a European university and is organised by students. BOBCATSSS is formed by the first letters of the cities whose universities were founding the conference in 1993: Budapest, Oslo, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Tampere, Stuttgart, Szombathely and Sheffield. BOBCATSSS 2017 is organized in collaboration with students from University of Tampere, Finland, Oslo and Akershus University College, Norway and Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands.
