The Berlin School of Library and Information Science, 
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin invites applications for an assistant 
professor position in “Information Behavior”. This is a Junior Professor 
(W1) tenure track position (option for full W3 professorship). A 
tenure-decision process will begin five years after fulfilling the 
obligations and expectations of a junior professor.

A broad research profile in the theory and/or application of information 
behavior in digital libraries is expected. Substantial knowledge and 
experience in research and teaching of quantitative and qualitative 
methods for user studies, esp. in the context of digital libraries, is 
highly desired. The successful applicant will be expected to teach in
English and German, to have a clear research profile and be willing to 
take part in interdisciplinary projects. Experience in the 
implementation of user studies is advantageous. International experience 
in the context of library and information science is desirable.

Applicants must meet the legal requirements for a Junior Professor 
(assistant professor) as stipulated in §102a of the “Berliner 
Hochschulgesetz” (mainly: a completed PhD at the time of employment). 
Humboldt seeks to increase the proportion of women in research and 
teaching, and specifically encourages qualified women to apply.

given to disabled persons with equal qualifications. Applicants with 
immigration background are welcome.
