PhD course on Theories in Library and Information Science: Selected perspectives on libraries, literature and knowledge organization (10 ECTS)
Venue: Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences, Oslo, Norway
Time: October 21-25 (lectures and literature seminars) and December 11-13 (paper seminars)
The content of this doctoral study course is designed to all Nordic and Baltic library and information science (LIS) doctoral students, but also suitable for doctoral students in LIS in any other part of the world or in a related research area.
The emphasis lay on three main areas: Literature and Users; Information and Society; Knowledge Organization and Information Retrieval. The course is biased towards recent international research in English. However, students may enrich the course with literature in other languages.
The course is delivered at the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences, Oslo, Norway, and it combines lectures and seminars on campus with independent studies of literature as well as with written submissions and oral presentations. The course is given in English.
