Library and information scientific research I, and 
Library and information scientific research II
(7,5 ECTS + 7,5 ECTS)
 
…will be held in spring 2011 and autumn 2011 at Swedish School of
Library and Information Science, University of Borås
 
This doctoral study course is directed to all Nordic and Baltic LIS
doctoral students. You are also welcome to the course if you are a
doctoral student in LIS in any other part of the world or in a related
(media and communication, human computer interaction, cultural research,
archival or museum studies, etc.) research area.
   The course is based on recent research carried out in library and
information science field world-wide. The course content comprises
research conducted in a various fields of LIS, from information and
cultural policy research, to developments within research on knowledge
organization and information retrieval, information behaviour/practices
in various contexts, information/knowledge management, as well as to
research in scholarly communication. The course includes both micro and
macro level considerations, and demonstrates the richness of research
themes, topics and designs within LIS.
   The natural bias in the course is towards research published in
English and Nordic languages. However, students may enrich the course
with literature in other languages if they are able to do this.
   The course is delivered at the University of Borås and combines
lectures and seminars on campus with independent studies of literature.
