Hi everyone,
The PhD course "Learning, information, and informationliteracy" will be
held autumn 2010. The course is a part of the LinCS-DSESdoctoral course
and more information is available at:

Course dates:
- October 18, 2010, 13.00-16.00: Online meeting
- November 1-3, 2010: Physical meeting inGothenburg
- December 10, 2010: Online meeting, 13.00-16.00
- January 12-14, 2011: Physical meeting in Borås
Costs
All participation is free of charge. TRAVEL COSTS TO COURSE
VENUES(including hotel, second class train or budget airfare etc.) WILL
BE COVERED.Reimbursement will follow upon completion and passing of
course. If there aremore applicants than the 20 admission places
available for each course, aselection will be made.
Who can participate?
All students who are registered as Ph. D. students in LIS,
educationalsciences and neighbouring fields (interactive media,
information systems, mediaand communication research) within the Nordic
countries are eligible toparticipate in the course. International
students are also welcome toparticipate. LinCS-DSES is a doctoral school
funded by The Swedish ResearchCouncil under the new scheme of providing
high quality courses open to allstudents enrolled in Ph.D. training.
Important ambitions behind the concept ofnational doctoral schools are
to contribute to the internationalization ofdoctoral training and to the
facilitation of networking between doctoralstudents at different
universities in Sweden and inother countries. The courseswill include
lectures and seminars by leading international, Nordic andnational
scholars. Please note that these VR funded doctoral schools do not
paysalaries to students; only costs for participation (travel etc.) will
becovered.
What is LinCS-DSES?
LinCS-DSES focuses on processes of learning, interaction and schoolingin
the modern society. The school offers courses that give the participants
athorough background for studying learning in its various manifestations
incontemporary society. An explicit purpose is to offer theoretical
andmethodological skills relevant for the study of human learning and
thedevelopment of competences at various levels of inquiry. An important
elementin the courses is the role that digital technology plays both in
thetransformation of how people learn in various settings and in terms
of the roletechnology can play in supporting learning activities.
