[NORSLIS] PhD course "Learning, information, and information literacy"

Hi everyone,
This is a reminder for the PhD course "Learning, information, and
information literacy"will be held autumn 2010. It is for all PhD
students in LIS and related areas interested in the field of information
literacy and all participation is free of charge, including travelling
costs. The course is a part of the LinCS-DSES doctoralcourse and more

SEPTEMBER 13, 2010.
Course dates:
- October 18, 2010, 13.00-16.00: Online meeting
- November 1-3, 2010: Physical meeting in Gothenburg
- December 10, 2010: Online meeting, 13.00-16.00
- January 12-14, 2011: Physical meeting in Borås
Costs
All participation is free ofcharge. TRAVEL COSTS TO COURSE VENUES
(including hotel, second class train orbudget airfare etc.) WILL BE
COVERED. Reimbursement will follow upon completionand passing of course.
If there are more applicants than the 20 admissionplaces available for
each course, a selection will be made.
Who can participate?
All students who are registered as Ph. D. students in LIS, educational
sciencesand neighbouring fields (interactive media, information systems,
media andcommunication research) within the Nordic countries are
eligible to participatein the course. International students are also
welcome to participate.LinCS-DSES is a doctoral school funded by The
Swedish Research Council underthe new scheme of providing high quality
courses open to all students enrolledin Ph.D. training. Important
ambitions behind the concept of national doctoralschools are to
contribute to the internationalization of doctoral training andto the
facilitation of networking between doctoral students at
differentuniversities in Sweden and inother countries. The courses will
include lecturesand seminars by leading international, Nordic and
national scholars. Pleasenote that these VR funded doctoral schools do
not pay salaries to students;only costs for participation (travel etc.)
will be covered.
What is LinCS-DSES?
LinCS-DSES focuses on processes of learning, interaction and schooling
in themodern society. The school offers courses that give the
participants a thoroughbackground for studying learning in its various
manifestations in contemporarysociety. An explicit purpose is to offer
theoretical and methodological skillsrelevant for the study of human
learning and the development of competences atvarious levels of inquiry.
An important element in the courses is therole that digital technology
plays both in the transformation of how peoplelearn in various settings
and in terms of the role technology can play insupporting learning
activities.
