Assistant Professor in Library and Information Science, Faculty of The
Social Science at the University of Iceland

The University of Iceland is a progressive educational and scientific
institution, renowned in the global scientific community for its research.
It is a state university, situated in the heart of Reykjavík, the capital
of Iceland. A modern, diversified and rapidly developing institution, the
University of Iceland offers opportunities for study and research in
almost 300 programmes spanning most fields of science and scholarship:
Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities, Sciences and Engineering.

The Department of Library and Information Science, in the Faculty of
Social Science at the University of Iceland, seeks applicants to fill a
tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in the area of library and
information science.  Applicants should have an expertice knowledge in the
field. The Assistant Professor is among other things expected to teach and
do research along with administrative work in the Department of Library
and Information Science and participate in an active way in the future
developement in the education of Library and Information Science.

The applicant should preferably have compleated his doctoral degree in the
field of Library and Information Science. Exellent communication skills
are required. Applications will be considered with the Departments og
Library and Information Science requirements in mind.

The position will be filled from January 1st. 2009, for four years with
the possibility of tenure according to regulations no. 3. mgr, 31.gr. of
the University of Iceland.
