Dear doctoral students and colleague researchers,

We are happy to announce the 2006 NORSLIS roadshows. Further below (as
well as attached PDF) is the full Call for Participation for both stops,
the first in Tallinn, March 30-31, the second in Oslo, September 27-28
(not September 26-27 as stated in the first call).

The overall topic of the two roadshow stops in Tallinn and Oslo is Web
studies, including research on user-created web spaces (e.g., blogs,
wikis, social bookmarking and folksonomies), users’ seeking behaviour on
the Web, as well as statistical methods for measuring web phenomena (aka
webometrics).

Please note that we welcome both PhD students and colleague researchers
who are interested in the topics for the open sessions on Thursday 30
March. Please also note that the stop in Oslo in September is scheduled
to be combined with the 11th Nordic Workshop on Bibliometrics and
Research Policy.

We also want to stress the opportunity on the second day of the roadshow
in Tallinn on Friday March 31 for PhD students to discuss and receive
feedback on Web-related aspects (not necessarily main aspects) in their
PhD projects.

Please note that PhD students who want to take part on March 31 should
register by e-mail to Dr. Nils Pharo (nils.pharo at jbi.hio.no) already on
January 31, 2006 at the latest.

Please also note the possibilities to receive travel support from the
NORSLIS programme as described in more details below (and in the
attached file).

You are very welcome to spread this Call for Participation to others who
might be interested to take part in the roadshows in Tallinn or Oslo.

Best regards,
Nils Pharo and Lennart Björneborn

2ND CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: NORSLIS ROAD SHOW SEMINARS 2006 IN 'STUDYING
THE WEB AND ITS USE'

The concept of a 'road show seminar' means that a team of 2-3 senior
researchers of high international status will visit 2-3 Nordic-Baltic
sites, each covering an adequate region, with a tailored set of lectures
and tutorials on a pre-selected research area, as well as supplying
improved supervision and consultation. The idea is in a cost-effective
manner to provide research knowledge and experience out to the local
research groups and doctoral students within Nordic-Baltic regions.
Travel and accommodation costs are thus minimized.

In 2006 the aim of the road show is to present new developments in Web
studies including research on user-created web spaces (e.g., blogs,
wikis, social bookmarking and folksonomies), users' seeking behaviour on
the Web, as well as statistical methods for measuring web phenomena,
also called webometrics.
