Einar Selvik er norskt tónskáld, forsprakki og stofnandi hljómsveitarinnar
Wardruna. Hljómsveitina mætti skýra sem verkefni tileinkað því að búa til
tónlist í anda norrænnar menningar og hefða sveipaða dulrænu yfirbragði.
Einar notast við mörg af elstu hljóðfærum sem finna má í norrænni menningu
ásamt ljóðum og kveðskap sem hann sameinar í nútímalegan hljóðheim. Einar
hefur þannig náð að tengja fræðiheiminn við dægurmenningu ásamt því að ljá
gömlum hugmyndum rödd og ná þannig til áheyrenda út um allan heim og þenja
mörk tónlistastefnunnar.

Á þessum viðburði mun Einar ræða um nálgun sína og rannsókn á flutningi
norrænnar tón- og ljóðlistar. Hann mun sýna úrval af gömlum norrænum
hljóðfærum, bæði ein og sér og í samspili við norræna ljóðlist, auk þess að
flytja ýmis Wardruna lög.

Eftir þann tíma verða miðar aðgengilegir í Norræna húsinu (á hærra verði).

Einar Selvik is a Norwegian composer, and the main musician and founder of
the Norwegian musical constellation *Wardruna*, a project dedicated to
creating musical renditions of different Norse cultural and esoteric
traditions. By using the oldest Nordic instruments, poetry and poetic
metres in a contemporary soundscape, Einar has managed to merge the
scholarly with the pop-cultural and give a new voice to old thoughts, tools
and techniques, reaching audiences world-wide and stretching the
limitations of musical genres.

In this session Einar will be speaking about his research and approach to
Old Nordic music and poetic performance, and the extensive creative
concepts behind his own creations. He will also demonstrate a selection of
the Old Nordic instruments both solo and in interaction with Old Norse
poetry, as well as performing various *Wardruna* songs acoustically.

Tickets: 2,000kr.  (Only two stamped and numbered tickets per person.)

Tickets at the student rate will be available on the second floor
(cafeteria floor) of Oddi at a marked table (*Þjóðfræði*) between 15 and 16
on *Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday*

*7-9 September*, and (if there are any left) *13-15 September*.

After that, they will only be available in the Nordic House (at a higher
rate).
