> The Faculty of Arts at Aarhus University has made heritage studies a
research priority. The field of heritage studies departs from an
understanding of heritage as a valuable but scarce resource which is
fundamental to human life, as are water, food and medicine. An essential
part of community building, heritage is often contested, and access to
it can be limited. Providing access to heritage and securing its
sustainability is a profound challenge that research is obliged to
respond to. The heritage studies initiative works with a broad concept
of heritage which includes natural as well as cultural heritage in its
material and immaterial forms. The Faculty of Arts is offering a PhD
scholarship to support the new heritage studies initiative. Proposals
for PhD projects can address the production, representation and public
dissemination of heritage in various forms and through different media
?Äì digital or physical. Projects can also focus on the politics of
heritage including the promotion of sustainable heritage.
>
> The heritage studies research initiative is conceived as an
interdisciplinary programme involving scholars from a number of fields
such as archeology, cultural studies, anthropology, museology,
intellectual history and history of science.
>
> The applicant who is awarded the PhD scholarship will be enrolled as a
PhD student at the Graduate School of Arts.
>
> The PhD student must complete the studies in accordance with the current
regulations for the PhD degree programme, currently the Ministerial
Order of 14 January 2008 on the PhD Programme at the Universities:
