<div dir="ltr">Good evening!<div><br></div><div>At yesterday's Faculty of Earth Sciences meeting, elections were officially opened for Head and Deputy Head. Four people have formally offered to be either head or deputy head via e-mail, though technically one can vote for anyone who is eligible. This is a two year term that begins in June 2016. The current head and deputy head are Þorvaldur Þórðarson and Áslaug Geirsdóttir, who can formally decline to continue for another term. </div><div><blockquote style="margin:0px 0px 0px 40px;border:none;padding:0px"><div><br></div><div>(These elections are not to be confused with the Institute of Earth Sciences, which works in close conjunction with the Faculty, especially in research. Their elections will also be held soon. Current chairman is Freysteinn. The faculty head, deputy head and a boardmember from the Faculty work with the chairman and two other boardmembers from the Institute and make up a joint council that discusses joint issues.)</div></blockquote></div><div><br></div><div>There are a total of 5 student representatives who have voting rights, with 1 for undergraduate and 4 for graduate (though ideally in the future 2 and 3, respectively). We decided that it would be best to take an anonymous survey from the graduate students on who we should vote for. </div><div><br></div><div>I have attached a PDF document of the emails from the 4 people who put their names forward: Magnús Tumi Guðmundsson (head), Kristín Vala Ragnarsdóttir (head), Andri Stefánsson (deputy head) and Steffen Mischke (deputy head). Please read through to help make your decision. </div><div><br></div><div>Click <a href="http://goo.gl/forms/28CpSc1oIG">HERE</a> to fill out a small form on who you would think would be best. Electronic voting is open until noon on Monday 7 March so we would appreciate your input by Sunday!<br></div><div><br></div><div>Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or comments. </div><div><br></div><div>Deirdre Clark</div><div>Hrönn Egilsdóttir</div><div>Monika Dragosics</div><div><div><br></div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div>Deirdre Clark, PhD Research Fellow<br></div>University of Iceland | Háskóli Íslands<br></div><div>Institute of Earth Sciences<br></div><div>Sturlugata 7, Askja, Room 265<br></div><div>101 Reykjavík, Iceland<br><br></div><div>+354 525 5414 (Office)<br>+354 690 5745 (Mobile)<br></div><div><a href="mailto:dec2@hi.is" target="_blank">dec2@hi.is</a><br></div></div></div>
