<div dir="ltr"><font face="Tahoma" size="3">Today at 12 in the third floor conference room there will be a presentation on a workshop that will be held in August. <br><br>This August a two day workshop on HPC
and geological structures modelling will be held at UI. Simula Research
in Norway is the main organizer, in particular one of their students and
an ex-student of UI, Yapi Danatien Achou. Ten participants from Simula
are expected. A short description follows.</font>

<br><font face="Tahoma" size="3">The Computational Geoscience deptartment
of Simula Research Laboratory in Norway is having a workshop on geological
structures modelling and high performance computing (HPC). The workshop
will be held at the University of Iceland, August 21st and 23rd, 2013.</font>

<br><font face="Tahoma" size="3">The Computational Geoscience dept. of research
areas are: Geology, geophysics, plate tectonics, geodynamics and HPC. We
have developed software and methodologies that target cutting-edge parallel
hardware to simulate real-world applications of HPC for geoscience and
biomedical computing. The largest simulation so far used 1024 GPU and 12288
CPU cores.</font>
