Hún lauk stúdentsprófi frá Fjölbrautaskólanum í Breiðholti árið 1997 og B.Sc prófi í jarðfræði árið 2003. Árið 2008 lauk hún meistaranámi í jarðeðlisfræði frá Háskóla Íslands og byrjaði í doktorsnámi árið 2009.
