fall trip of the Geoscience Society of Iceland (JFÍ) is next Saturday, 24/9.
This year, the trip goes to lower Borgarfjörður with focus on deglaciation
history and related sea level changes. The trip is guided by Ólafur
Ingólfsson and Hreggviður Norðdahl, both Quaternary geologists at the University
of Iceland and experts on this area. The focus of this trip will be e.g. raised
marine limits in Mt. Akrafjall and Stóri Sandhóll in Skorradalur, stratigraphy
and glacitectonics in Melabakkar coastal cliffs, and one of the largest push
moraines in Iceland.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

verður farin laugardaginn 24. september nk. Að þessu sinni er ferðinni heitið
til neðri hluta Borgarfjarðar, en þar verða ummerki jöklaleysingar og
sjávarstöðubreytinga á síðjökultíma skoðuð, undir leiðsögn jarðfræðinganna Ólafs
Ingólfssonar og Hreggviðs Norðdahl. Meðal þess sem skoðað verður eru háar
strandlínur við Akrafjall og Stóra Sandhól í Skorradal, jarðlagaskipan
norðanverðra Melabakka og einn stærsti jökulgarður landsins frá síðjökultíma,
Skorholtsmelar. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Fyrirhuguð ferðatilhögun verður þannig að lagt verður frá BSÍ
klukkan 8:00 (stundvíslega) og gert ráð fyrir að koma til baka um klukkan
17-18:00.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Eins og ávalt er rútuferðin í boði JFÍ en þátttakendur sjá
sér fyrir nesti. Munið að klæða ykkur eftir veðri.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Félagsmenn eru hvattir til að taka börn og maka með og
jafnvel aðra gesti líka. <o:p></o:p></P>
