> The M7.1 Darfield main shock ruptured the Greendale fault in 2010, rupturing a previously unknown fault, now termed the Greendale fault. The Christchurch main shock also ruptured an unknown active fault. Both events caused significant damage and loss of lives. A large number of scientist has been studying these events since, and this talk summarises the main findings.
