Good morning!
Student representatives are invited to the Faculty of Earth Science
meetings, which are held throughout the course of the academic year. It is
important for us to be represented as various points regarding teaching,
research, administration and so on are put on the agenda, discussed and
voted on. This is also the platform where we can make sure any issues that
we may have are heard and discussed.
Last year, we determined that 5 students between undergraduate and graduate
can attend (number depends on the total number in the faculty). From there
we decided that 2 should be allocated to the undergraduate students and
that we the graduate students would fill the rest - ideally at least one
Masters and one PhD. As many of us might be in class, in the field or out
of the country during any one of these Faculty meetings, we are also
allowed substitutes.
So like last year, I am looking for at least 4 Masters students and 4 PhD
students that would be interested in representing and voting for the
graduate students during these Faculty meetings. If it is a question of
commitment, remember that you do not have to attend every single Faculty
meetings as by having 8+ students, at least 3 should be available.
Thank you to those students that have so far attend the Faculty meetings so
far. And please let me know if anyone would be interested in attending
Faculty meetings in this next academic year!
Deirdre
