Hi Everybody 

Currently there is a group being formed (Þorvaldur, Guðfinna, Sigurður Reynir, Kristín Vala, Magnús Tumi & Jón Bjarni  (representing MS students)to work on improving how the graduate study programs are conducted within the earth sciences. Issues such as improving information flow to students and enhancing communication. Working towards clearer guidelines on duties and rights of students and supervisors and their rights in both MS and PhD and on the working conditions in labs, field work and other facilities, and clarifying what is available and what is not.

 I am looking for a PhD student in earth sciences to join in the work of the group and give insight from the PhD side of things.

This is extremely important for us  graduate students here and the results from this group might change the graduate studies for the better and might especially improving things for the students.

 The next meeting  will be on Friday the 13th, and then another one on June 27th, and then the results will hopefully be presented on a department meeting June 30th. 

The ongoing work and data this group is working with will hopefully be made accessible on Ugla for everybody, staff and students soon. 

If anyone has any suggestions about improvements regarding these topics  or has any good/ or bad experiences with the department/supervisors etc... that they feel are relevant for this work or any thing you might want to add.
